Mr. Brightside

The Killers. A decent band with some good songs, but not many hits. Mr. Brightside however is one that made the cut. This song is about a man who starts thinking too much about a girl who he has only just kissed. "It started out with a kiss, how did it end up like this", shows that he really didn't want this coming out of just a kiss with a girl he isn't in a relationship with.
"I'm coming out of my cage, And I've been doing just fine, Gotta gotta be down, Because I want it all " these lyrics could be explaining that he just got out of a relationship and that he's doing alright, but he has to be open to everything that comes with the love that he wants to find. Maybe he's just looking for a rebound, but then why would he be making such a big deal over this girl that he just met?
More lyrics say, "Now I'm falling asleep, and she's calling a cab," showing a dream he's having. He becomes so obsessed with this girl that he imagines she is with other men, and it makes him sick. He admits its all in his head, yet he can't stop thinking about this girl. Although, this is just my interpretation of this song, it could be a song about a guy who is actually dating this woman and thinks that she is cheating on him. But the lyrics that say "Open up my eager eyes, Cause I'm Mr. Brightside," really convince me that he just gets eager about every girl, and he calls himself Mr. Brightside sarcastically. If he seriously thought about the bright side of things he wouldn't be talking about this girl with another guy, so he obviously means that he always gets paranoid and thinks too much about the smallest things.
