I'll Be Missin You

"Thinking of the day when you went away," some of the lyrics from the song by P. Diddy who made the song in memory of the Notorious B.I.G. When I first heard this song I was pretty young and couldn't remember all the lyrics to many songs but for some reason this song reminisced in my mind and I learned all the lyrics. I didn't just remember the chorus, I remembered the raps in it, too and still know the whole song by heart. This song isn't one that I have to analyze like the rest of the songs on my list, but it's just a song thats close to my heart and at the moment it mirrors my life and I wanted to write about it.
The song still holds memories and now I can attach new thoughts to it and it now holds more meaning for me then it ever has. There are lots of songs out there that are about remembering and mourning but just listen to this song and it'll become a new favorite. For me, this song really stands out and is deeper than just a song written to make money off of. It was written by true friends who had to deal with the reality of losing a very close friend. A friend that had been like family, that had stuck by them through everything and even through all of thier mistakes and triumphs still had their back. This song can be played even 50 years from now and it will still have meaning for anyone who has ever lost a loved one, or is even just missing someone they had been close to. It's not one of those songs that are just played at clubs or only for a couple of months and then forgotten, it's a song that can be played any time and it will still be a hit.

All of The Lights

Alright true Kanye West can be a bit of a egotistical pig sometimes, but he can make good music, too. He's made his fortune on his record sales and is famous for his music. Also for his big mouth. But this new song was a hit and I really like it. The song "All of the Lights" includes many artists from Kid Cudi to Alicia Keyes and all the way back to Elton John. Each different singer has a different part and adds thier own flavor to this one of a kind song. And not all of the lyrics are exactly related, I think. In part of the song, I think Kanye talks about time he spent in the doghouse for publically humiliating Taylor Swift at the awards show. The lines, "I slapped that girl, she called the feds, I did that time and spent that bread." explain how he shut down Swift and his career suffered for it. All of the lights that are always showing on him due to his fame also make any mistake of his ten times worse than it actually is and makes his life one of scrutiny. And the song lines, "To my surprise, a n---- replacing me, I had to take 'em to that ghetto university," show that his time away from his music let others steal the spotlight like Drake and Lil' Wayne, and he wanted to do something about it.

Another part of the song is simply just a story about a man who did his wife wrong and is trying to spend time with his daughter and make his life right again and get things on track. All of the lights for this male exeplifies cops and the lights being flashed on him and chasing after him. But for both men in the song they are trying to reach the same goal. They're trying to get their lives back in order and back to the way they used to be. Both are trying to show thier remorse and learn from their mistakes and show the ones they care about that they can be better. They want them to see everything, all of the lights. "Want you to see everything, want you to see all of the lights."
